Peter Stephens
About Artist Peter Stephens
Peter Stephens is, Buffalo-based artist, who keeps exploring the possibility of the
interaction between lines and diverse colors. He has been known for his paintings using 19th century photography to develop ideas on history, memory, landscape, and meaning.
In recent years, he is interested in cosmology, space science, and physics, out of which have evolved paintings that explore scale and fundamental processes in nature, an abstract landscape space of color and collage. His work is in several museum collections, including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Burchfield-Penney, and the Castellani Art Museum in Western New York, as well as the Brooklyn Museum.
